Trying to figure out who will be the incoming freshman who takes
girls cross country by storm is usually tough to figure out from
outside looking in to the cross country world. But its easy this year
and don’t look any further than Brandywine, where freshman Anna
Brousell already has a top two time at one of the major courses. She
is locked behind Jessie Leitch, a freshman sensation herself last
year, but this is a pure runner who will score big points for the
Bulldogs in all three running seasons. She also happens to be a
Diamond State Games gold medal winner, so that’s how I know about
this one.
The Concord football team suffered a heartbreaking loss to St.
Marks on Saturday 22-16. They had clearly been in control of the game
until the opening of the third quarter. Senior star Raider Juan Burton
injured his ankle and couldn’t come out to play on either side of
the ball. The Spartans took advantage on both sides, being able to key
on Omar Williams who had over 120 yards rushing in the first half, and
only 20 something in the second. Offensively, the Spartans scored
their two offensive touchdowns in the second half. Their first was a
special team’s touchdown when Jonathan Heydt scored the first of his
three TD’s on a kickoff return. The two touchdowns that Spartan
quarterback Joe Wright threw gives him 6 already in two games and he
close to, if not over 500 yards passing as well.
