The Unknown
An extraordinary day of hockey!
Four 2-1 scores, all in extra time, eliminated all of 2004’s Final Four
teams. The four new Final Four faces is most unusual. The team scoring first won
all four games yesterday. Four different conferences, or non-conferences, are
represented at Rullo for the first time since 2001 when Tower, St Mark’s, Cape
and Caravel appeared.
#8 Concord 1 (1OT)
#1 Tower Hill 2
The day’s shortest contest requiring just 2:25 of extra time before Caitlin
Van Sickle’s goal returned Tower Hill to Rullo.
#5 Brandywine 2 (Strokes)
#4 Sanford 1
The day’s longest contest. Ali Schoch and Alexis Esbitt exchanged goals.
Mary Frances Meier, Amy Williams and Dani Meier, in the bottom of the fifth,
converted to win the stroke off 3-2 and send the Bulldogs to their first Final
Four since 1996. #5 defeated #4 on strokes for the second year in a row.
#7 St Mark’s 2 (3OT)
#2 Caesar Rodney 1
Jackie White and Candice Russ in the final minutes of regulation, Brittany
Oncay from Katelyn to win it. Spartans return to Rullo for the first time since
2001.
#6 Cape Henlopen 1 (2OT)
#3 Delmar 2
Another 1-1 tie from Cape and Delmar, courtesy of Katie McMahon and Amanda
Deloy.
Lauren Ellis from Autumn Fischer to send Delmar to Rullo. The Wildcats last
Final Four was in 2002.
