BASKETBALL REMAIN UNBEATEN WITH 79-65 WIN OVER NEUMANN

Chester, PA (Nov. 26, 2005) – Sophomore Dominique Kidd (Upper Darby,
PA/Cardinal O’Hara) had 14 points and a career-best 16 rebounds,
propelling Widener to a 79-65 victory over Neumann at Schwartz Center.

Kidd shattered her previous mark of 12 rebounds set November 30, 2004 against
Moravian and matched her career best of nine offensive rebounds, also set in the
same contest.  She scored 18 points in last year’s meeting against Neumann
on November 27.

It was Kidd’s second straight double-double and third career.  She had 17
points and 10 rebounds Tuesday in Widener’s 68-64 victory over Delaware
Valley.

Widener (4-0) in the first half used a 13-2 spurt to open a 26-13 lead with 8:12
remaining.  Senior Celeste Baumgardner (Eagleville, PA/Methacton) scored four
points in that span with senior Linette Babiarz (Bala Cynwyd, PA/Merion Mercy
Academy), and freshmen Lindsey Isler (New Hope, PA/New Hope-Solebury) and Megan
Sipple (Boothwyn, PA/Chichester Senior) each nailing a 3-pointer.

Kirsten Patton (Odessa, DE/Padua Academy) netted six straight points to open the second half
as Neumann closed to 40-30 with 19:10 to play.  But the Pioneers responded with
a 12-2 run over 4 Â1/2 minutes for a 52-32 edge.  Senior Chelsea Luhta (Medford
Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) scored seven points in that time.

Luhta poured in 21 points with nine rebounds and is averaging an astounding 22.8
points per contest this season.  Baumgardner netted 14 points with Babiarz
contributing seven and nine assists.

Nellie Mixon (Philadelphia, PA) finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and six
steals for Neumann with Patton adding 12 points off the bench.

It is the Pioneers’ first 4-0 start since the 1999-2000 season.

Widener closes its three-game homestand Wednesday with its Commonwealth
Conference opener against Lebanon Valley.  Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.
