The St. Marks Spartans routed the A.I. duPont Tigers in the championship game of the 2002 Delaware High School Girl's Basketball Tournament winning 52-30. It was the Spartans third straight title and sixth overall under head coach John Fiorelli

Christine Armstrong pumped in 17 points Jenna Logan, leading a break, scored 12 points including two 3-point shots.
Markeda Hollingsworth appears shocked at the outcome of the game. The Tigers scored just 9 first-half points. Logan and Kristen Sullivan were able to watch the last minute of the game from the sidelines as reserves were on the court seeing action.
Erin Mahoney gets her piece of the net. Armstrong right, and Natalie Bizzarro combined for 29 points.

Christine Armstrong's 19 points helped propel St. Marks into the state championship game.  Polytech's Tyresa Smith drives for two of her 17 points as Erin Mahoney covers.
Kristen Sullivan had seven boards and five points as St. Marks won 50-42. Kim Rowley contributed 7 points for the Panthers.
Andrea Hochstuhl scored 8 points for St. Marks who advance to their third consecutive state championship game. Markeda Hollingsworth celebrates with the A.I. duPont Tigers after their win over Seaford in the semifinal round. The Tigers won 53-40 as Hollingsworth scored 19 points.
Seaford's Shirelle Tingle. The Blue Jays shot just 25% from the floor overall and were 3-26 from 3-point range. LaTanya Shazier scored 24 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for A.I. as they advance to the state championship for the first time since 1977.

 
Caravel's Davineia Payne and A.I. duPont's Markeda Hollingsworth did battle in the quarterfinal round game held at St. Marks Hollingsworth, #23, shoots a layup that tied the game with time running out in regulation to send this game to overtime.
LaTanya Shazier scored two free throws in overtime that proved to be the winners for A.I. in a 39-34 contest. Nieve Carter (number hidden) gets mobbed after scoring her only basket of the game, an overtime layup off of a rebound that sealed the win for the Tigers.
The Tigers celebrate their advancement to the semifinal round at the Bob Carpenter Center on Wednesday where they will meet the Seaford Blue Jays.

 

 
The William Penn Colonials hustled for 32 minutes to defeat Christiana in second round action. Christiana's Katie Hickman lead the Vikings to an early 8 point lead.
Brittany Lundy was the diving Colonial. Princess Sirmans guided the Colonial offense to a come from behind 49-37 victory.
Johnita Davis was the high scorer for William Penn with 10 points. The 6' senior Amanda Byrd made Colonial life under the boards difficult during the game.

 

 

The Glasgow Dragons hosted the Dover Senators in a first-round matchup in the 2002 Delaware Girl's Basketball State Tournament. Junior Kristin Hines drained four 3-point shots in the first half.

Dragon point guard Lindsey Dyal added two 3-pointers in Glasgow's 72-46 win. Senior Tanisha Chandler scored the other two of the Dragons eight 3-point shots in the game.
