Tower Hill 4
Hillers were hitting on all cylinders and grabbed an insurmountable 3-0 lead after just fifteen minutes. Mary Hobbs and Anna Teruya converted PCs before Ms Hobbs scored a nifty tip-in goal on Ms Teruya’s rocket into the circle. Meghan Lyons finished the scoring early in the second half. Freshmen and sophomores recorded all eleven points on the day. The only downside for Tower was the inability, for the second game in a row, to covert a stroke. Friends (8-6-1) has had a brutal week, with three consecutive defeat, but a win today at Brandywine will make it right and return the Quakers to the tournament.
Wilmington Christian 0 Liz Dematteis’ 14th from Jackie White was the decider. St Mark’s finished 13-2-1 and, with the Committee’s approval will be hosting a first round game next Wednesday. Wilmington Christian was pressing at the end but couldn’t get the equalizer. The Warriors’ season ended at 6-9-1, with three 1-0 defeats in final week, to Cape, Sanford and St Mark’s. For the first time in living memory, Wilmington Christian will not be in the tournament.
Brandywine 4 Brandywine got four goals from the usual suspects: Ali Schoch with #s11 and 12, Amy Williams with #13 and Alana Coppol with #14. Dani Meier added two assists to go with her three from yesterday. The Bulldogs (13-2) go for four wins in four days this afternoon versus Friends. The Quakers have been anything but friendly to the Dawgs in recent years winning four of five since the 2000 season. Newark 3 Kirsty Mathieson with a pair, Lauren Slacum with the third and sister Carole with the shutout.
St Thomas More 0 Padua celebrated Senior Day with another shutout, Katie Warren’s tenth of the season. The Pandas (13-2) got two goals from Emily Grugan and singles from Caitlin Grimes, Sarah Campbell and Stephanie King. Archmere visits Forbes Field today.
