Padua 0 St Mark’s bests Padua again by an identical 3-0 score. This time the Spartans didn’t wait until the second half to get started as Maria Muscara found the cage early. Katelyn, who scored once and assisted on the other two Spartan strikes, will likely miss the Spartans’ remaining three regular season games while on duty with the US national team. The Panda’s have only allowed nine goals this season; St Mark’s has scored six of them.
Sanford 3 Paris put the Warriors in front with two in the first half, her eight and ninth of the season. Hornet freshmen Bree Gregory and Ali Thomas combined to bring Tatnall within one before Alexis Esbitt closed the door. The Hornets, losers of three straight, can turn it around today when they host Seaford.
Westtown 0 Senior Caroline Campbell had a hand in all the Tower tallies with two of each. That’s eight shutouts in a row and eleven on the year for the Hillers. The Hillers (13-0-1) finish on the road next week, at CR and at Friends.
Dover 1 Galen Giaccone had the Riders trailing for only the second time all season but the Senators’ lead was short lived as Kelsie Ward and Ashley Cox had the Riders back in front before halftime. Jori Victory completed the scoring. CR, still perfect at 12-0, has Lake this afternoon, Caravel tomorrow and Tower next Tuesday. The Senators, after an unbeaten September, have fallen out of the playoff hunt.
Sussex Tech 0 Scoreless at the half, Cape won it on goals from Jennifer Warren and Amanda Deloy. Vikings have won eight straight and finish with red-hot Wilmington Christian on Saturday, Milford Monday and once-beaten Delmar Tuesday. Playoff-hungry Seaford next for Tech in a battle of the birds.
Indian River 3 Kelsey Riggleman, with consecutive hat tricks, and Bitty Hood, with a pair, led Seaford to a wild win over IR. The Jays (9-5) have won three in a row and can likely clinch a spot in the Sweet Sixteen with one more win, today at Tatnall or Monday versus Sussex Tech. The Indians, still very much alive at 6-5-1, face four games in four days next week, with all of them very winnable – Smyrna, Woodbridge, St Thomas More and Dover.
