It’s just not the same without the VOICE. The VOICE of the old headmaster bellowing from the footbridge. He would have enjoyed bellowing yesterday! Sophomore Lauren Ianni and freshman Mary Hobbs scored on either side of halftime and the Hillers defended like demons as Tower ended a four-game winless run against Sanford. The Hillers scored as many goals in a brief nine minute stretch midway through yesterday’s game as they did in the previous 300+ minutes of hockey with Sanford. Tower’s Stephanie Rutkowski has thrown six straight shutouts.

Friends won the first game 5-1 but the SAS defense is much wiser and the rematch was no stroll in the park, as St Andrew’s took Friends to extratime. Nancy Graves gave St Andrew’s the halftime lead. The Good Sheppard equalized for Friends before assisting on Emily McMillan’s golden goal. The Quakers are off to Tatnall Saturday for a big one, with hopes of spoiling the Hornets’ Homecoming.

Scoreless at the turnaround, SC jumped on top before Beth Pavlik sent the match into overtime. Tiamia Black"s OT goal won the Battle of Sussex ended the Golden Ladies’ hopes for an upset.
