College Report Lindsay Moyer assisted on the game winner as Cornell topped Harvard 2-1. Jessica Cowperthwait tamed the Tigers, stopping eight of eighteen shots and facing down fifteen corners, in recording a 3-0 shutout at Princeton. Paige Schmidt was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the week ending October 2. Ms Schmidt currently ranks second in the Ancient Eight in points, third in goals and third in assists. Jackie Ciconte scored the game’s first goal in the Terp’s 7-1 pasting of Rutgers. Michelle Huynh-Ba scored both Spartan goals, one assisted by Maggie Giddens, in MSU’s 4-3 loss to UConn. Ashley Judge’s first career goal was the game winner for the Heels in a 3-1 win over BC. Whitney Wells recorded a hat trick as the Spiders exploded for seven second-half goals against Rhode Island. Shannon Taylor (7G, 7A) and Ms Wells (6G, 2A) lead UR in scoring. Katie Stevenson assisted on the 70th minute PC goal in a come-from-behind 3-2 win for the Owls over Pennsylvania. Sara Schmidt scored and assisted in the Wildcats’ 5-0 victory at Monmouth. Liz Lingo sprinted the length of the field before dishing off for the extra time GW for the Camels in a 2-1 win over Trinity. Karyn Keenan is 2-0 with 17 saves and no goals allowed for DePauw. Whitney Plaster beat the keeper on a penalty stroke, with no time on the clock in the Fighting Scots 4-1 win over Salve Regina. Jaime Zubrow was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for scoring three goals in Hopkins’ victories over Swathmore and Franklin and Marshall. Kimberly Brown made four saves in recording her sixth shutout win of the season for the Kenyon Ladies. Andrea Fleming scored twice and added an assist for Lynchburg against Randolph-Macon Woman’s College. Ms Fleming has 15 goals on the season. Dani Unflat had two assists and Mel Thompson scored her fifth goal of the season against Dickinson. Jenna Schwind had the game winner for Messiah against Etown. Noelle Kanaga had the game winner, scoring two goals on two shots for MIT in a 4-3 win at Clark. Salisbury scored in the game’s 68th and 69th minutes in a 2-1 win over Catholic. Brittany Elliot scored the GW on a PC. Caitlin Meara collected two assists in a 1-1 week for Susquehanna. Summer Spicer scored her ninth goal of the season against Johns Hopkins. Her nine goals and four assists for 22 points lead the Garnet. Hannah Beswick scored for the Brewers, her second of the season, in a 5-3 win over Hamilton. Nikki Bosso scored for the Pioneers in a 5-2 win at Moravian.
