McDANIEL EXTENDS MASTERY OF MUHLENBERG WITH 13-6 WIN

Allentown, Pa. --- Tom Wenrich and Brett Gibson each threw a touchdown
pass as the McDaniel College football team defeated Muhlenberg for the
10th straight year, 13-6.

The Green Terror (5-4, 2-3), which snapped its four-game losing streak,
has not lost to the Mules (3-6, 2-4) since 1993. The teams played a tie
in 1995.

Muhlenberg, which has not scored a touchdown in 10 quarters, jumped on
top when Jordon Grube kicked a career-long 45-yard field goal with 2:13
left in the first quarter. John DeLuca rushed for 23 of his career-high
108 yards on the short drive, which was set up by Mike McCurley's
26-yard punt return.

McDaniel used a long kickoff return, 38 yards by Eric Featherston, to
set up its first scoring drive on the next possession. A completion of
31 yards from Wenrich to Jamie Unger, with a 5-yard face-mask penalty
tacked on, gave the Green Terror a first-and-goal from the 5. Three
plays later, Wenrich found fullback Mark Koenig in the corner of the end
zone for a touchdown.

Two 15-yard McDaniel penalties, one for a face mask and one for
unsportsmanlike conduct, helped set up Grube's second field goal, a
26-yarder with 6:08 left in the first half.

Late in the third quarter, with the score still 7-6, Grube lined up for
a 38-yard field-goal try, but the snap from center came in on a bounce,
and Grube's scramble ended up short of the first down. The Green Terror
quickly turned the mistake into points, as Gibson found Unger behind the
secondary for a 70-yard touchdown pass on the third play of the fourth
quarter.

A missed extra point left the Mules down only seven points. Their best
chance at tying the game came on their final possession, when they drove
to the McDaniel 45 with a third-and-1. The next two passes were
incomplete, and the Green Terror ran off the final 2:14.

Both teams alternated quarterbacks. Gibson played the entire second half
for McDaniel, completing seven of 13 attempts for 102 yards and rushing
for a team-leading 37 yards. Wenrich was 9-of-14 for 81 yards.

Muhlenberg went with two freshman, both making their varsity debuts.
David Mazzola started and was 9-of-19 for 64 yards, while Eric Santagato
completed seven of 11 passes for 57 yards.

Drew Abbamonte (13) and Josh Marvel (11) both reached double digits in
tackles for the Green Terror. Will Corbin led the Mules with seven stops.
