Lacrosse- Coordinator: Ms. Kristin DeMesse Diamond State Games IV Delaware and Pennsylvania Split LAX Medals at DSG IV LEWES, DE – Six different players scored for the Lehigh Valley Steel as they won the gold medal in high school lacrosse over the Falcons from Exton, PA at Diamond State Games IV on Saturday. The Steel, from Macungie, PA, won the final game 10-5 in the first lacrosse tournament held under the umbrella of the Diamond State Games. The Falcons were the #1 seed coming out of pool play and were lead by Spencer Morton, who scored 7 goals in the playoff round. In the adult division, Pat Backus was the leading scorer and tournament MVP for team Busby from Wilmington. They defeated team Selsor, also from Wilmington, which was lead by the former Tatnall school head coach Brian McDermott. The Lehigh Valley Steel Vikings took home the bronze with them to Pennsylvania and team Flip from Wilmington was the bronze medal winner for the adult division. The event operated as a fundraiser for the Philip Cameron DeMesse Memorial Fund, which will be used to help create a BRIDGE lacrosse program in Delaware. The BRIDGE program helps introduce underprivileged kids to the game of lacrosse that can be an expensive sport in which to participate. To find out more about the PCD Memorial Fund call 302-731-1676.
