FIELD HOCKEY TOURNAMENT RULES
H.S. and 14-U: Shin guards and mouth guards must be worn at all times while playing. NO EXCEPTIONS. Goalies must wear mouth guards. No jewelry is to be worn while playing. Adult: Shin guards and mouth guards are strongly recommended. All divisions must have a designated goalkeeper in full gear. Minimum of 7 players with a goalkeeper is needed to start the game. Home team has possession of the ball at the start of the game. If there is a color conflict during a game, the team listed first on the schedule is the home team and will wear light color uniform. The team listed second on the schedule is away and will wear dark color uniform. Numbered jerseys are not necessary. Each team needs to bring a set of pinnies, if they do not have a light and dark set of uniform tops. If the away team does not have a dark uniform top, than they are expected to change to pinnies. The clock will not be stopped for uniform changes. We do not have pinnies for your team to borrow. Substitutions will be made at the sideline in the center of the field. Player must come off the field first before you are permitted to step on. Pool play consists of one - 30 minute game. There are no timeouts permitted. The clock will not be stopped for injuries. The injured player can leave the field and a substitute permitted to enter and the game will continue. You have 10 minutes before the start of your game to warm-up on the field. Games will start promptly on the hour. Time will start even if teams havent started playing. The start and finish of the game will be signaled by a horn. (Times are strictly enforced, no exceptions.) Timer is not stopped for goals scored. Please respect the calls of our officials, and practice good sportsmanship. Officials will use penalty cards, if needed. TOURNAMENT ROUNDS High School: The 1st and 2nd place team in each pool will move on to the medal rounds. 1st place in pool A will play 2nd place in pool B and 1st place in pool B will play 2nd place in pool A. 1st place in pool C will play 2nd place in pool D. 1st place in pool D will play 2nd place in pool C. The winners from those games will advance to the next round and play each other. The two winners from the 2nd round will play for gold and silver medals and the losers from the 2nd round will play for bronze medals. TOURNAMENT ROUNDS 14-U: After pool play is finished, the first place team will play the 4th place team. The 2nd place team will play the 3rd place team. The winners of this game will play each other for gold medals and the losers of that game will play each other for bronze medals. ADULT MEDALS: After pool play is completed for the adult teams, the point system will be used to determine the gold, silver and bronze medal teams. POINT SYSTEM High School, 14-U and Adult: 3 Pts for a win, 1 Pt for a tie. Goals scored and goals allowed are recorded. In case of a tie when determining the team standings after pool play, goal differential will be used to break the tie. We are using the same system that the USFHA uses in the Field Hockey Festival. There is no over-time in pool play. During the playoffs we will have a stroke off, if the game ends in a tie. This is an example of how we will break ties in Pool Play in order to determine who is 1st and 2nd place and which 2 teams will go on to the Playoffs for H.S. and 14-U: Team GP W L T Pts GF GA DifTeam Dargo 6 1 4 1 4 5 10 -5 Instead of just using the goals your team scored or just using the goals
allowed as a way to determine your placement, we have decided to also adopt the
goal differential. Rules: H.S. and 14-U: - Federation - Adult - FIHOTHER INFORMATION: 2005 DSG Souvenir T-shirts for sale.
